She was born October 23, 1950, a daughter of the late Lyda Ford Lowe and Esta Lemon Lowe.
Rita retired from Wood County Board of Education after 25 years of service. She had a passion for helping others. She took pride in knowing she was providing a solid foundation for her students to build upon. She attended Narrow Gate Baptist Church. She enjoyed listening to music, gardening, and anything to do with flowers. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved having her family all together sharing memories and all the things the magical season had to offer. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, Roger Cook; children, Michele (Damon) Tipton, Dawni (Jeff) Hofawger, Casey (Kelly) Cook; six grandchildren, Brittany (Scott) McDermott, Brooke Tipton, Coy Miller, Sophia Miller, Alexa Scritchfield, Khloe Cook, Sarah Poling; great grandson, Colton McDermott and another great grandson due in November; brother, Jim (Terry) Lowe; lifelong best friend, Cheryl Parker.
In addition to her loving parents, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Deven Nicole; and 3 nieces, Barbara, Teresa, and Kayla Lowe.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Wednesday September 6, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday September 5, 2023 at the funeral home. An online guestbook for condolences is available at www.sunsetparkersburg.com.
