Robert "Red" Lester Davis Sr

Robert L. “Red” Davis Sr., 79, of Parkersburg, WV passed away October 17, 2018 after an extended illness at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 18, 1939 in Bens Run, WV to the late Harold L. and Naomi L. (Patterson) Davis. Robert was a long time dedicated employee at the Ames Shovel Plant for 40 years. He was a loving husband to his wife of 56 years Betty A. Davis. He was also a loving and doting father of six children, Kathy M. (Floyd) Palmer, Robert L. Davis Jr. (Deceased), H. Brian (Loretta) Davis of Parkersburg, Gary W. (Brenda) Davis of New Matamoras, OH, Tammy K. Fetty of Lumberport and Denise A. Davis of Davisville. Robert was a grandfather to 15 grand-children and 19 great grand-children that adored him; brother Larry Davis of Ashville, OH and sister Sharon Larocque of Atlanta, GA. He was known for his love of trucks and hunting and riding ATV’s with friends and spending time with his family. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers John Keith Davis, Kenneth Davis and sister, Judith Ann Davis. Visitation will be Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Dave Cumpston officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 15.
