Robert J Gains

Robert J. “Bob” Gains, I, 75, of Parkersburg, passed away Jan. 11, 2011 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 26, 1935 in Doddridge County, WV a son of the late Robert Franklin and Ivie Bell Lipscomb Gains. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served in the Honor Guard in Stuttgart, Germany, retired after 27 years of service from the Ideal Box Factory; Plastic Masters, and he enjoyed watching football games, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia G. Gains of Parkersburg; two sons, Robert J. Gains, II “Bobby”, and Paul E. (Angela) Gains, all of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred (Sharon) Gains, and Wayne (Dottie) Gains, all of Parkersburg; two sisters, Jo (Dwight) Hall and Linda “Lynn” Wagner, all of Parkersburg; and a large, loving extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James L. Gains; and infant brother; one sister, Wilma Hall; and one grandson, Robert J. Gains, III “R.J.”.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Tim Henson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
