

He was born June 26, 1943 in Canton, OH, a son of the late Ralph Schafrath and Ruth Fetter Schafrath.
Roger proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy and United States Army and, following his retirement, remained deeply connected to his community. He was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, as well as a dedicated member of the VFW and American Legion Post 15. In his free time, Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time at Rinks, and had a passion for collecting cards, coins, and clocks. He also found enjoyment in putting together jigsaw puzzles. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Wanda Schafrath; son, John Schafrath; daughters, Tammy (Jeffery) Loane, Crystal (Roger) Stevens; sister, Rosalie; grandchildren, Hunter, Damian, Alex, Cody; niece, Tina and nephew, Brian.
Funeral service will be 1 PM Wednesday April 22, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM.
