He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sheila (Lucas) Belcher; their four children, Laura Belcher and partner Harry Hutchison III (Parkersburg); Erica Belcher and partner Brett Cowdery (Belpre, Ohio); Brian Belcher and wife Margo (Ferraris) Belcher (Parkersburg); Shaun Belcher (Washington, W.Va.); and his sister, Joan Carol Smith (Parkersburg). Also one granddaughter, Daisy Cowdery (Belpre, Ohio) and one step-grandson, Moses Shafer (Parkersburg).
Ron was born in Charleston W.Va. on June 19, 1943, the son of the late Virgil Lee Belcher and the late Helen (Markle) Belcher. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1961.
He served four years (1961-1965) in the United States Air Force. One of those years he was stationed on a radar base near Zaragoza, Spain. He completed 40 years of service at Kaiser Aluminum and International Convertor, Inc. in Belpre, Ohio. He also served as Financial Secretary for the Kabel Federal Credit Union for many years.
Ron loved to spend time in the West Virginia highlands. He felt a deep connection to the Williams River in Pocahontas County, where he and his father went trout fishing. A portion of his ashes will be scattered in the Williams River just as his father’s ashes were.
Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Dupont Road on Friday, October 18, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 19, at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The burial will be at a later date at Evergreen South Cemetery in Parkersburg.
