She was born January 2, 1932, in Akron, OH, a daughter of the late George Trexler and Mary Prosser Trexler.
She was a devoted homemaker and beloved wife. Vada was formerly employed by Cook Motor Lines and Johns Manville before dedicating her life to caring for her home and family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her loved ones and nurturing those around her. On May 2, 1953, she married Ray Hively, and together they built a life centered around faith, love, and family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her deep devotion to her family, and the love she shared with everyone who knew her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include sons, Ray Hively Jr., Bryan Hively, Larry Hively; daughter, Cynthia Rhodes; grandchildren Christina Hively, John Hively, Charles (Lynn) Rhodes, Megan Rhodes; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Connor, Dakota, TJ, Theo, Nolan; brother, Paul Trexler; sisters, Ada Lang, Pauline Williams, and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ray Hively; son, Jeff Hively; brother, Meryl Trexter; sisters, Naomi Trexler and Bernice Makin.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday July 8, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the funeral home.
