He was born July 31, 1917, in Spencer, WV, a son of Frederick and Gatha Hardman Hersman.
Woodrow was a member of the Parkview United Methodist church, enjoyed bowling and loved listening to music. He was especially fond of feeding the bluejays and squirrels. He also served in the United States Army for four years, during World War II. He owned a Sunoco service station and retired from Sears after 28 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dormal McKown Hersman; grandson Peyton s; sister Sybol Brown of Fortworth, TX; niece Rebecca (Daniel) Moore and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Donnie Hersman and eight brothers and sisters.
Services will be held Tues., July 14, at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Kenneth Nolan officiating. Visitation will be Mon., July 13, from 5-8 PM and Tues., July 14, from 1-2 pm. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens where military rites will be held.
