Wyatt Doyle Smith, 23, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at home surrounded by family and friends. Wyatt was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School. He was an avid Mountaineer football fan and always had tremendous support from their team and staff. Any free time he had was spent fishing on the family’s favorite dock or at rock concerts with his brother and friends. His sense of humor exceeded even the greatest of comedians and his pure heart was truly unmatched. One of his many passions was to spread awareness about Cystic Fibrosis. He was an avid speaker for foundations such as Make-A-Wish and Children’s Miracle Network. A hero to us all, Wyatt was proudly appointed an Honorary Swat team member for the Pittsburgh PD. With a selfless heart and zero complaints, Wyatt was proud he could be someone Doctors learned from after a lifelong battle of CF. Wyatt was a Warrior and we will find a cure! Wyatt is survived by his parents, Carolyn and Randy, brother ,Tyler (Jaycee) Ballard, nephew, Korbin, Aunts, Cheryl (Gaylen), Diana “Didi”, Cinthia (Joe), Connie “Slappy” (Jerry), Jeannette, Jeanne, Candace (Alvis), Christie, Uncles, Chuckie (Kendra), David (Debbie), Rodney (Denise), many cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Duane and Jean Smith and his Memaw Evelyn Mowery. From the nurses to the valet and everyone in between, the family can’t thank the staff at UPMC enough; especially 10DG. Per Wyatt’s wishes, the family asks everyone to sport their best West Virginia attire to services. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Carolyn, I remember the first time I saw Wyatt was at the City Park. You were walking with him in a stroller. We asked you to come over to our Family Reunion tables. Wyatt was so cute, and he was just a tiny baby boy then. I didn't meet him again till after we moved home to WV. Sometime later I learned that two of my great-nephews , Wyatt and Derek, grew up being best friends. I loved him because he was family, but I also loved him for being himself. He was genuine, kind, considerate, and loving. I saw him once out with his Memaw Evelyn shopping. He surprised me by coming to me and giving me a hug. He was one of a kind, and God is gaining a very special angel. Carolyn and the rest of the family, my heart goes out to you, and I am so sorry. <3

Wyatt, I feel like I have so much to say but don't know where to start! I was one of your nurses on 10D/G. You mean so much to so many of us and I can tell you so many of us were heartbroken when we heard you left us. I know you have a top seat in Heaven! You are a true Hero, no matter what obstacles were placed in front of you, you put a smile on your face and said I can get through this. You inspire me! I will miss you very much. I wanted so much to stay with you all day, the day you left and I wanted to say so much more. I'll never forget how you would so unexpectedly make me laugh and our silly conversations about nothing. I'll never forget your favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and every Thanksgiving I'll definitely be thinking of you! Everytime I eat Texas Roadhouse I'll remember you. When I asked you what was the thing you were looking forward to the most when you got home, you said being with your family and friends and I'm so grateful that you had a chance to do that. I'll never forget you. Love Always, Felicia

Wyatt, I was one of the respiratory therapist who cared for you at Presby. Sweet boy I cared for you for two years, no patient has ever touched my heart like you. I wish I could’ve seen you one last time and said goodbye, but maybe it was better I didn’t because saying goodbye would’ve just been too hard. Although your gone flying high with the angels now, know you will never be forgotten. I will miss you sweet boy so very much.

Carolyn, I will miss you very much also. I’m sending hugs, prayers and so much love to you and your family.
