With heavy hearts Al’s family announces his sudden passing from an aneurysm on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. He leaves behind to forever miss him his loving wife of 33 years, Bev; son, Ken (Katie) King; grandson, Johnathan; sister, Bonnie (Jim) Olive; nephew, Mike Sauve; as well as many friends and extended family members. Al was predeceased by his parents Ken and Kathleen King, and sister, Judith Sauve.
Born and raised in North Vancouver, Al was known to many people in his role as tow truck operator, a career which spanned more than 40 years and in the community as “The Good Shepherd”. He loved animals and worked in security with guard dogs as well as SPCA throughout his life. He also provided vehicles to the Parksville Fire Department for training purposes and was a fierce champion of safety.
While not behind the wheel of his truck, Al spent many happy hours fishing and panning for gold all over British Columbia.
A Graveside Service will be held to honour Al on at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 1st at Yates Cemetery, 1000 Allsbrook Road in Parksville. Friends and colleagues in the “towing world” are invited to put on their favourite jeans and join the family as Al takes his last ride. A Celebration of Life will follow the Service in the "Big Red Hall" at the Coombs Fairgrounds from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
