

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025. David was born on February 16, 1944 in Pembroke, ON and grew up in Grand Mere Quebec. He and Scynthia raised their family in Kitimat BC, where David worked and retired from Alcan in September 2000. David spent his retired years in Qualicum Beach, where he could be found either in his garden or woodworking in the shop. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Arrowsmith Search & Rescue or a charity of your choice.
David and Scynthia met at the University of New Brunswick on a blind date in 1963. They married in 1967 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. They had two children, Adam in 1974 and Amber in 1979.
David attended NAIT - Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1968/69 where he graduated with an Industrial Production Technology Diploma.
With that, David and Scynthia moved to Kitimat BC in 1970 where David started a job at Alcan which spanned 30 years, retiring in September 2000.
David enjoyed many outdoor activities including gardening, cross country skiing, camping and walking/hiking groups.
He was very involved in Scouting, Special Olympics, Down Syndrome Supports Groups. He sat on various Community Organization boards and volunteered countless hours to his community. In retirement, David enjoyed standing beside The Salvation Army Christmas Ketttles, greeting community and supporting the charity.
David & Scynthia moved from Kitimat to Qualicum Beach in 2002.
He joined the New Comers group and subsequently joined Qbana walking group where he helped to organized walks and hikes for community members.
David took an avid interest in Scotch/Whiskey. He joined a Scotch club and began his own collection. He hosted and organized many meetings, sharing his learned knowledge on the subject.
David was very interested in trains. He collected many pieces and had a large train set up. Sharing this interest with others, David joined train clubs.
David was an exceptional wood worker. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others, helping them to grow and create their own pieces. David made several pieces which he gifted to family and close friends. He was meticulous in everything he created.
David & Scynthia sold their home and moved into Berwick Qualicum Beach in 2021, to enjoy a slower more relaxed pace of life.
David had a very positive outlook on life. He enjoyed reading and sharing what he learned with others. He was a natural teacher. He was a gentle, kind and compassionate man whose memory will live on in each life he has touched.
