Dave is survived by his wife, Sonya, of 54 years, sons, Aaron (Jennifer), Nicholas (Daylyn), grandchildren Ryan, Sara, Poppy and Hugo, brother Kirk (Rhonda), in-laws Marianne (Odleif) Skonnord, Wally (Linda) Rebeyka as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave was born and raised in Powell River. He left when he went to UBC and obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (Forestry) in 1972. Dave loved life and his life was full. When asked what he did for a living he always responded, "I killed Trees!". He truly enjoyed working in the forest industry which took him to many remote and Head Office locations throughout the West Coast with Weldwood, Interfor, and finally working with the First Nations.
After retiring and relocating to Qualicum Beach the travel bug really bit him with multiple trips to Europe, snowbirding in Arizona, trips across Canada and Mexico. His favourite European times were getting lost in small villages, people watching, and finding a hidden gem restaurant and enjoying a velvety wine.
Dave was happiest working in his garden, golfing, and entertaining, sharing a single malt scotch or a full bodied red.
Dave loved his family and always made sure, even up to his passing that Sonya was okay. He was extremely proud of his two sons always regaling friends and family with their achievements. They were one of his greatest accomplishments.
