Diana was born April 18, 1950 in Nanaimo. She was the second daughter of Jack and Dorothy Perry, the younger sister of Margaret, and in 1953, the older sister of Joan. Diana and her sisters spent their summers on Shack Island where they learned to swim, to row boats and to fish for sculpins in the rock pools. Diana was a master of all.
Diana attended school in Nanaimo. After graduation she headed to Nurses’ Training at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. She graduated in 1971 and worked as a Registered Nurse in Powell River, Victoria, Fort St. John and Parksville.
In 1974 Diana met Murdoch Cowan while walking her dog, Minto. They married on July 3, 1975 and enjoyed many years sailing the West Coast of North America and travelling the world. They visited Scotland, the EU and Mexico many times over their 51 shared years.
Diana was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease in her mid-sixties. After several years of Murdoch’s care at home she moved to Eagle Park in Qualicum where staff provided both friendship and excellent care.
Diana leaves her husband Murdoch and members of her extended Cowan and Perry families
