Dorothy Barbara SQUIRES

Barbara passed away peacefully on October 19, 2015 at the age of 96.  Born in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, Barbara moved to Toronto where she met and married William R Squires. She lived most of her life in West Hill (Toronto), and upon retirement moved to Bobcaygeon, Ontario eventually relocating to Vancouver Island, living in Victoria and Qualicum Beach.

Barbara had a love of life, gardening, fashions, and her church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and leading Bible studies. She volunteered at church functions and, with her husband, she started the Meals on Wheels program in Bobcaygeon.  Being a stay-at home mother and wife Barbara did some part time work in an Auto Dealership and school cafeteria while raising two daughters Dorothy and Joy Squires (Deceased) and her son, Bill.  She was also predeceased by her only sibling, Grace Dollimore.

Barbara lived in relative good health until recently and passed away peacefully without pain or suffering as she knew that she was going to be with the Lord, which gave her great comfort.

She is survived by her son, Bill and his wife Charlotte of Parksville; grandchildren, Kristy and her partner Erik of Calgary; nieces, Michelle Rawbon and her partner Travis of Vulcan, Alberta and Emily Rawbon of Invermere, BC; her great grandchildren, who referred to her as GG-MA who lived in the big house (The Gardens in Qualicum), Hailey, Mikael, Amelia (Calgary) Trishell, Orion and Bryce (Vulcan).

Barbara lived a rich and full life and will be dearly missed by her relatives (Sissons, Mayer, Williams, Swan and Squires families) and her friends.

A Memorial Service will be at Yates Funeral Home, 1000 Allsbrook Road in Parksville at 1:00 pm on Saturday November 7th and Barbara will be interred in Verulam Cemetery in Bobcaygeon next to her husband of 64 years.
