

Douglas James Hilton passed away peacefully on April 10, 2021 at Nanaimo General Hospital from natural causes at the age of 96. Doug was predeceased by son Graham Ronald and wife Greta Margaret (Barnes). He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Dianne) and Roy (Susan), six grandchildren, Christen, Angela (Lee), Sandra (Philippe), Nicole (Chris), Graham and Emily, and nine great grandchildren, Ellana, Micaiah, Léo, Lilie, Judah, Célestine, Matthias, Eden and Rose.
Doug was born August 19,1924 to Joseph and Sarah Hilton of Preston, England. He married Greta Barnes of Burnley, England on October 18, 1948 and emigrated to Canada in 1957 living four years in Montreal before moving to Regina. Doug was an electrical engineer working first as an electrician in England and later as a system protection engineer at Saskatchewan Power Corporation. Doug and Greta retired to Parksville on Vancouver Island, BC in 1987 where he resided until his death.
Doug had varied interests including painting, model making, biking, flying and cultivating bonsai trees. He was a technology buff and loved to spend his hours tinkering and repairing and working on projects on his computer. His life centred around his love of music both in listening and playing, His favourite thing was his beloved Jaguar.
A small memorial service was held for Doug on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Yates Memorial Services in Parksville BC with his immediate family in attendance.
