Edwin, better known to his family and friends as Ed, passed peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016 in the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH in Nanaimo, BC. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol Joan Jones (nee Carr) of Qualicum Beach, BC; children, Janice and Doug (previous marriage) of Calgary, AB; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Ed was a good neighbour, a sharp dresser, a natural salesman, and the gardener with the most zucchinis on the block. He was quick to laugh and loved to joke and tease, especially when kids were listening. His people skills gave him a long career with International Harvester in fleet sales, where he had many friends and associates, and where he met Carol, the vivacious young woman who would later become his wife.
Ed enjoyed mixing business with socializing at company conventions. He was fond of good cars and fonder of good games – golf and curling were his sports, but he loved to watch – and comment – on all of them. To the end, he took meticulous and loving care of his home, his family, and the community of neighbours he called his friends.
The family gratefully decline floral tributes. Those wishing to honour Ed’s memory may do so by making a donation in his name to the CNIB, 2340 Richmond Road, Victoria, BC V8R 4R9.
