Elizabeth (Betty) Catherine Ellis, only child of Captain Cyril and Ethel Fry, was born in Halifax May 12, 1918 and died in Qualicum Beach May 30, 2014. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Jack Ellis in 2005.
She loved her children, Craig, Chenda (Carolyn), and John; her grandchildren, Angela & Jared Brown, Amanda and Michael Dockum, Stephen and Allison Gregory, Dana and Leo Bond; her amazing great grandchildren, Jackson, Georgia, Riley, and Charlotte. They will miss their Mom, Grannie and GG.
Betty enjoyed the blended, extended family members and the Magees, Ballantynes, Valley Girls and Guys, and dear friend Helen Weaver.
From boarding school to war years to Port Alberni and Qualicum years, Mom lived her life fully with an abiding faith. She extended hospitality to all and mentored many. Betty loved family times, golf, bridge, good music, and the beach cottage.
She is fashionably tardy in joining her many lifelong friends who have gone ahead.
We thank Darcy and the staff of Qualicum Manor where Mom resided the past 8 years. You each were a true blessing to us all. Please enjoy a small vanilla ice cream at Whiskey Creek for Mom.
A service, led by Reverend Alan Naylor and Venerable Dianne Tomalin, was held on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Qualicum Beach.
