Dear Richard and all of the Stanhope family....
I was saddened to learn of the passing of Jane. I have fond memories of her teaching me home economics at ADSS, our family also had the pleasure of being neighbours with the Stanhope family when we lived on 17th Avenue in Port Alberni.
I had not seen Jane in many many years, but i remember her always to be a kind soul and i am glad to have known her.
Richard, i know this must be a tough time for you and all of your family. Losing a parent is never easy. I am sending good thoughts your way and wishing you strength in the weeks and months to come. With kindest regards, Gerri xo

Dear Joe and Family,
I was extremely sadden to hear about Jane passing. It comes as a shock, only because I was unaware of a severe illness. I had not seen Jane for a long time. Then one day I happened to run into her in a grocery store in Parksville, last fall.
She was her same old self, very welcoming and gracious. Oh Dave it's good to see you, how are you and what adventures have you been on?  We chatted, and as usual, I did most of the talking. She was always a great listener and very interested.  However, I had been up to quite a lot, not the least of, I was going to be a father for the first time. I told her this and well she lit up lit like a bright sunny day and she said. "That is absolutely terrific,  Dave. I am so excited for you,  she exclaimed! I knew you had it in you to be a father and I know you will be a wonderful father.  We chatted a little longer and departed. That was the last time I saw Jane.  As I walk out to my car and drove home, I can remember feeling whole lot better about myself, my future new child and life in general,  then when I initially arrived at the grocery store only a hour before. 

Thinking back on Jane's response that day, that was how she always made me feel, when she would give me  words of encouragement and wisdom. Her words would give me confidence and a sense that I was on the right path. 

Her words of encouragement and wisdom go back a long way to when I was a very young man of 16. That was when I first met her son Rob Stanhope, and was introduced to Jane and Joe, one day, at their family home on 16th avenue in Port Alberni: so many years ago. 

Thank you so much Jane for all you gave me and this world.

To the Stanhope Family.

I just want to express my sadness at her sudden passing and to share my sympathy with you at this time.  I am flooded with happy memories of her wonderful life and how she impacted me and my life on so many levels. I look forward to celebrating her history with you all when I see you at her service.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. I will always remember Jane fondly and have wonderful memories of many times spent with you all over the years! She leaves behind a wonderful family and I know you will all be a great source of comfort and support to one another. I am so glad I got to visit with her in early June.
