Doug passed away on March 14, 2013 at the age of 77. He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Marilyn, loving children Rick (grandchildren Tara and Jennifer - mother Diane), Diane (Doug), Bob (Dorrie).
Born in 1935 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Doug moved to Calgary in 1952 where he lived, worked, and raised his family until his retirement in 1991. After retiring, Doug moved to Qualicum Beach where he and Marilyn built their dream home and were active with extensive travel, sports and volunteer work. Diagnosed with cancer in 2006, he battled valiantly until the end and passed peacefully in the presence of his wife.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Doug's honour at St. Stephens United Church, 150 Village Way, in Qualicum Beach on Wednesday March 20th at 2:00 pm. Reverend Philip Spencer officiating. Special thanks to Dr. Steve Noble and all the cancer specialists and caregivers who helped Doug during his long battle with cancer.
