

Laura Vern Freeman passed away in Nanaimo, BC on Thursday, February 5, 2015. Predeceased by her husband, Donald and daughter, Nancy, she will be lovingly remembered by her children; Donna (Jerry) Jaggers of Qualicum Beach, BC and Alan (Diane) Freeman of Falkland, BC.
She will be missed by her grandchildren; Sarah, Miles, Barry, Andy, Warren and Marla Jaggers, as well as Ryan, Derek and Greg Freeman. She leaves her great grandchild, Tori Freeman.
Laura also leaves her sister, Shirley Iverson of Medicine Hat, AB and nieces and nephews; Ken (Margo), Sandra, Frank (Nancy) Bonner, Nancy (Tom) Ramey and Cheryl (John) Dzerdz.
Vern was born in Calgary, AB and met her husband Donald there. Vern and Don moved to Cobble Hill, BC where they raised their family. She spent 25 years as “secretary extraordinaire” for S.D. # 65. She enjoyed figure skating, golf and was an avid reader. Vern also enjoyed travelling and making new friends.
Vern will be lovingly remembered as having a great sense of humor and believed in “telling it like it is”.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Arbutus Room at Arbutus Ridge in Cobble Hill, BC from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to the SPCA or the Salvation Army in her memory.
