December 21st, 1961 – October 10th, 2022
In the early morning hour of October 10th, 2022, Marcel David Kozak, passed away suddenly at the age of 60.
Marcel was loved by many and will be remembered vibrantly by his family and friends. He is survived by his children Danica & Taze (Genevieve) Kozak, grandchildren Holden, Hollis, Wren and Audrey, brothers and sister Darrell (Renita), Natasha (Brian), Eric and Jason, and his nieces and nephews Kevin, Javan, Nicholas, Robinton, Rowan and Romana. Marcel was predeceased by his mother Sonya Hill (Kozak) and his father Ernest Kozak.
Marcel was born in Manitoba and his family relocated to Vancouver Island, BC, when he was a small boy. He grew up in Cumberland and settled in Courtenay where he had a family of his own. In his early 30’s, Marcel moved back to Manitoba (Cranberry Portage) where he started a career with The Frontier School Division. Through his job, and living in a small town, Marcel made many close connections with people who worked at the school, students, and residents of the town. Upon sharing the news of his passing with people from Cranberry Portage, we were overwhelmed with positive comments and stories about Marcel and how much he meant to everybody.
In his heart, he was an artist, musician, and poet. Earlier this year, Marcel had taken a leap of faith and moved back to Vancouver Island to be with his children, grandchildren, and brothers and sister.
Marcel was a brave and passionate man, who ended up facing the most difficult challenges in life with an open heart. We all wish that we could have had more time with him, but we are so thankful for the time that we did have with him.
We wish you peace and freedom. We love you.
An everybody welcome memorial service will be held on October 30th at 1:30PM, PST at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville, BC, V9Y 2A9, 250-248-5859. Memorial Donations can be made in Marcel’s name to [email protected].
