June 29, 1930 - February 12, 2013
Peggy passed away peacefully at West Coast General Hospital at the age of 82, due to complications related to diabetes.
She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey and daughters Jackie & Maxine. She will be greatly missed by her son Tony (Kathy), sons-in-laws Rudy Knoll and Percy Simpson, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother Lloyd Earthy, sisters Lois Powell, Myrna Shick (Earl), Rena Marshall, Maxine McGiffin (Bill), numerous nieces, nephews and some good friends.
Peggy was born in New Westminster and grew up on a farm in White Rock before her family moved to the Valley. She was a tremendous athlete who was involved in many sports. After her children were grown, she worked at the School District for 20 years before retiring to Parksville with husband Aubrey. She returned to Port Alberni in 2000 to be closer to family and friends.
Peggy was very easy going and had a great sense of humour. As good natured as she was, her inner strength and determination were remarkable. In her later years she enjoyed family gatherings, Bingo, outings to the casino and was always up on the sports "scene".
A quiet family tea is being planned to celebrate Peggy's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
