Rick was the oldest son of Bob and Barrie Watson. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, alongside his younger brother Mike. Rick met the love of his life, Marjorie (September 20, 1944 - February 9, 2024), and were married June 21, 1969. Together they raised their family, moving to Qualicum Beach in 1976 where they would live out the rest of their lives by the sea side.
Rick will be incredibly missed by his children Debbie, Darlene (John), Rob (Angie), grandchildren Kyle, Kevin, Jackie, Mackenzie, and Alex, his brother Mike (Linda), along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Known by most as the meat manager at the Qualicum Quality Foods from its opening. Rick was there to greet people by the name "partner", and was a friendly face for anyone visiting the store. His reputation reached other communities of the island, and continues to this day.
Rick adored his late wife Marj, they were rocks for not just their family, but for each other. The way he loved her was perfectly captured in the lilies growing in their front yard. Rick and Marj did everything together, crossing every task off their bucket list. He was so proud to raise his children with his wife, and together watching their family grow with grandchildren.
He loved spending winter in Yuma, watching amateur and professional sports, and especially loved golfing. Rick will be remembered for his immaculate lawn and garden, his Seattle Mariners hat and black vest, and most importantly as the man that his family could always rely on.
Richard Watson was a butcher, a golfer, a friendly neighbour, a family man, a loving husband, and an incredible father and grandfather, who will be missed dearly by anyone whoever had the pleasure of getting to know him. He will live on through the abundance of memories and stories.
