

We are sad to announce the passing of Bob on August 19 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Winnipeg, MB to Howard and Sybil Dale. He grew up in Winnipeg where he went to work at MTS after finishing school at TecVoc. From school and work, he made many lifetime friends who still keep in touch.
Bob was predeceased by his brother Fred. Survived by his loving wife Sheila of 59 years, their three “furry kids”, Tessa, Lexi and Amy. He will be fondly remembered by his sister, Glennis Spalding (Chris), his brother-in-law Wayne Matthewson (Deanna,) his adopted “niece” Karen Jackson (Darrell), Emma and Matt. Along with nieces and nephews, Colin, Jeff, Karen, Audrey and John and many dear friends who shared his life over the years.
Bob’s career started with Manitoba Telephone System, then moved to BC Tel in Vancouver area in 1967. In 1996, after he retired, he moved to Parksville where he put his talents of being a handyman and builder with many projects over the years, for his own home, for friends, Parksville/Qualicum BCSPCA where he built a couple of buildings for them along with spending many years helping Sheila organizing garages sales to raise funds for the shelter, (in 2012, he and Sheila received Volunteers of the Year award for BCSPCA), was an active member with PGOGA (Parksville Golden Oldies Assoc.) where he enjoyed many events as helper/organizer and his favourite, playing Slo-Pitch, curled at both curling clubs, Parksville and Qualicum for many years, Parksville Newcomers and PALS gave him many new friends, where he enjoyed RVing, golfing, card games, picnics, dinners and much fun over the years.
He enjoyed many family dogs along with those of senior years that he gave a home to. They all gave him a great deal of love and lots of mileage walking in Oceanside and surrounding areas.
A thank you to Dr. Kulla and staff, Cancer Clinic, Nanaimo, Dr. D. Jenkin, Surgeon, BC Cancer Agency, Victoria, Medical Imaging, Nanaimo, Patty, Jane and Sharon, Medical Day Care at Oceanside, Dr. Hunter, Dr. Down, Robyn Dunstan and Pallative Care nurses, Home Support staff, for there care of Bob during this walk in his life.
