Born in St Maries Idaho, and raised in Fort St John, Bob was one of six children. He was pre-deceased by his parents Leslie and Anna, son Robert and his five siblings; Les, Donald, Jim, and sisters Alice and Carol.
Survived by Ellen, his dear wife, best friend and love of his life for 55 years; he is also survived by son Jim (Sheryl), sisters-in-law Iris and Elaine, grandsons Michael (Kylee), Christopher (Pamela) and four great- grandchildren.
Also mourning his loss are Bob's extended family, brother-in-law Frank, nieces, nephews and grandchildren along with his many friends.
He had an interesting and full life...working in Sales, the Lumber Industry and the Public Service. His love of politics lead him to positions with Federal Parliament and Provincial Legislature.
Bob loved sports. He was an excellent hockey player in his youth, and enjoyed fishing, golf, baseball and curling. In later years he became very active in the Parksville Lawn Bowling club, as one of it's founding members.
He was a man of great humour and always had a wonderful smile for everyone. He will forever be remembered for his kindness and zest for life!
Special thanks to the staff of Arrowsmith Lodge who took such great care of Bob.. Their kindness, compassion, and care for Bob's every need are greatly appreciated by Ellen and family.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bob's memory to the charity of choice.
A private family gathering to celebrate Bob's life will be held at a later and safer date.
