Shirley was born in Imperial Saskatchewan on September 23 1941. She moved out to Victoria BC with her parents at the age of 15 where she met her lifelong friend Darlene Sophonow. In 1972 Shirley moved with her young family to Parksville BC. In 1979 she started at K&R which soon evolved into Overwaitea and then to Save on Foods, where she worked as a cashier and price changer until she retired in 2005. After retirement she became actively involved with the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen for many years.
Shirley always said her favorite time of her life was when her grandchildren were small, and she enjoyed making so many wonderful memories with them. She was absolutely in love with her great grandchildren and one of her deepest hopes was to have more time to watch them grow. The family is so very grateful for the support that we received from VIHA, Red Cross and
Hospice during this difficult time. The kindness and professionalism of all the Doctors, Nurses, Home Support Workers and Volunteers was greatly appreciated. A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends on Sunday February 20th, 2022.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Salvation Army Food Bank of Qualicum Beach Hospice are greatly appreciated.
