

Verne’s family sadly announces his passing on May 22, 2024 at the age of 80. He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Vivian, children Tami Ballance and Kari Negrin, and grand children Nicole, Alex, Thomas and Kennedy.
He is also survived by his brother, Bill Boley and many extended family members.
Verne lived his days on his family property in Qualicum Beach, where he was born and raised. In his working years, Verne was an active member of his community, and a true “Jack of all Trades” He could be found spending many of his summer days at China Creek Campground fishing and spending time with friends and family.
He worked as a logger for the family business, he was a fishing guide, mechanic, tow truck driver and volunteer ambulance driver. In 1984 Verne was part of the founding team for the Dashwood Fire Hall and was the fire hall’s first Fire Chief. He also worked for BC Hydro, first as a truck driver and then settled into his career with Hydro Construction, where he stayed until retirement at the age of 70.
Many people who knew Verne would tell you he was a brilliant man, and always the voice of reason. You could always count on Verne to help. He loved his family and friends dearly and will be missed very much.
As per his request, there will be no service.
