Mel was born in Cutknife, Saskatchewan where he spent early years with siblings and extended family members. At the age of 16, Mel set out on an adventure. Heading to the NWT down to Vancouver over to Victoria and eventually settling in Port Alberni, BC. He married his best friend, Edith Tassie on August 19, 1967. Together they built a family - two sons, Dean (1969) & David (1970) and a daughter, Cathy (1974).
Mel worked at the MacMillian Bloedel Alberni Pulp Mill, from 1969 to 2004, retiring at 60. He enjoyed many things, hockey (Paper Kings), soft ball (Challengers), curling, horse shoes( Senior Gold Champ), and cruising on his bike. All of these activities built endless friendships, creating many new extended Duvall family members. One of his greatest passions was fishing, on shore or in a boat it was all about the fishing and we can’t forget, Mel's famous Smoked Fish!
Mel will be missed by all ❤️ Mel was surrounded with his immediate family and had a very peaceful passing❤️
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service.
