He was born in Houston, Texas on July 22, 1960. Abel worked as a surveyor and as a supervisor for Vaughn Construction. He had a passion for spending time with his grandchildren.
Abel is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Danielle Mercado and her husband Ricardo Anthony Mercado; grandchildren, Cloey Nevaen Mendez and Christopher Sterling Mercado; sister, Aida Santa Maria Garland; 2 nephews, Joe Edward Garland and Nathan Rene Garland; dad, Diomedes Santa Maria; mother, Irene y Arredondo; and stepdad, Eugene Arredondo. He is preceded in death by his nephew Nicholas Santa Maria Garland.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11:00am with the Funeral Service to start at 12:00pm.
