Alma Nora was born in McAllen, Texas on December 5, 1945, to Aaron and Elma Sandoval. She graduated from McAllen High School and received her Bachelors of Education Degree from UT Pan American University. She later returned to earn her Master’s Degree from the University of Houston.
After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Arturo R Ibarra on November 28, 1968. This union was blessed with two sons, Michael and Daniel Ibarra.
Nora, begin her career in elementary education in 1968. She earned a bilingual / ESL certification 1977 then continued as a Peer Facilitator until she retired from teaching in 2009. She enjoyed taking care of her family and especially spending time with her loving grandchildren Aryn and Alec Ibarra. She also cherished many nieces and nephews. She was always interested and proud of her loved ones as they progressed through life. She made numerous friends throughout her life. Many of whom would still come to celebrate her special days. There was also a special spot in her heart for her previous students who returned later in life to thank her for who she was.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arturo, parents Aaron and Elma, brother, Abel, and sister-in-law Annette. She leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons Michael and Daniel (Rosanna) and two grandchildren Aryn and Alejandro Ibarra. In addition, she leaves behind her brothers and their loving wives, Aaron (Janie), Juan (Yolanda), Jaime (Cris), Rudy (Lydia), and Ricardo Sandoval along with their loving families. Sister-in-law Irma (Eloy) Becho, and Brother-in-law Hector (Magda) Ibarra and their loving families.
A visitation for Alma will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 PASADENA BLVD, PASADENA, TX 77502. A celebration of life will occur Friday, May 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Rd, Houston, TX 77089. A committal service will occur Friday, May 9, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas 77598.
