

Baldemar worked for HydroChem in tank cleaning services. A man of strong faith, he was a devoted member of South Avenue Baptist Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball in the men’s league in Brownsville, Texas. Above all else, Baldemar cherished spending time with his family, creating countless memories that will be treasured for generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Raquel Cortez.
Left to honor and cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 58 years, Paula A. Cortez; his daughter, Noemi Sydlik (Rodney); his sons, Baldemar Cortez Jr. (Mari) and David Cortez (Melissa); his sisters, Beatriz Esquivel (Samuel), Minerva Hernandez (Robert), and Lubina Browning (Clifford); 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Enhabit, Jim and Linda Overton, the members of South Avenue Baptist Church, David Dobson, and Deer Park First Baptist Church for their love, prayers, and unwavering support throughout the years.
Baldemar will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family, and his kind and gentle spirit. His legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to South Avenue Baptist Church for the children's ministry.
Visitation will be held at Deer Park First Baptist Church, Chapel, 438 E 8th St, Deer Park, TX, on July 11, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at Deer Park First Baptist Church, Chapel, 438 E 8th St, Deer Park, TX, on July 11, 2026, beginning at 1:30 pm.
