Benjamin fought the good fight, and he finished the race; he gave it his all until the very end. Now he may rest in peace in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonia Hernandez Mayorga and Alejandro Mayorga; sister Montserrat Mayorga; and brothers Ismael Mayorga, Guadalupe Mayorga, Juan Mayorga and Antonio Mayorga.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Mayorga. His daughters, Monica Mayorga Aleman, Jessica Mayorga, and Vanessa Mayorga, and son Alonso Mayorga. His grandchildren, Stevon Garcia, Alyssa Trevino, David Sergio Martinez, Monica Isabel Aleman, Julissa Martinez, and Ava Mayorga. His great-grandchildren, Grayson Myles Garcia and Julian Clark Martinez. His sisters, Virginia Torres and Teodora Mayorga.
For 25 years, Benjamin proudly worked as a longshoreman with the Port of Houston. He loved his job and everything about being a longshoreman. He enjoyed working alongside his coworkers and friends, and the friendships he built there meant so much to him. He always took pride in his work and the important role he played at the port. He loved sharing stories about the job — the people he worked with, the challenges, the long days, and all the unforgettable moments that came with it. Those stories always made us laugh and gave us a glimpse into how much he truly loved what he did.
Benjamin was a devoted husband and loving father. Being a grandfather and great-grandfather was a special part of his life that brought him so much joy. His greatest legacy lives on through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Benjamin had a true passion for sports, especially his beloved Houston Astros. Whether he was watching a game, keeping up with the scores, or talking about the latest sports action, his enthusiasm was unmistakable.
We are going to miss his amazing laugh, the way he could make everyone around him smile, and the joy he brought into our lives.
His life was a gift, his memory a treasure, and his love a legacy that will live on forever.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness.”
