Beulah Jeanette Stroud

June 13, 1931August 31, 2020

Beulah Jeanette Stroud, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Heavenly family on August 31, 2020. She was born June 13, 1931 in Summit, Mississippi to Ed Travis and Beulah Johnson Travis. Jeanette was one of eleven siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Elton Stroud, her ten siblings, and granddaughter, Donna Janeen Stroud. Her birth name was “Beulah”, but she was called Jeanette all her life. Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, soon-to-be Great-Great Grandmother, Aunt, and faithful servant of God, Jeanette Stroud is survived by her three children, Jawonna Kay Pinell and husband Robert of Dayton, Texas, son, Elton Travis Stroud and wife Rhonda of Lakewood, Colorado, and son, Alton Doyle Stroud and wife Debbie of Prosper, Texas; 7 grandchildren, James Benjamin Martin and wife Magen, Janna Snider and husband, Dustin, Jawonna Marie Clark, Ashley Flanagan and husband Mike, Amber Huxohl and husband Josh, Brandi Best and husband John, and Shanna Stroud; 17 great grandchildren, Shyann, Gavyn, Garrett, Carys, Makenzie, Jase, Tenley, Trevor, Alexis, Aubrie, Brandin, Deven, Jozlyn, Zoey, Shaylin, Jacob, and Ava. and 1 great-great grandson, Karsyn, due to be born in November; numerous nieces and nephews who most called her “Aunt Gobi.”

She lived each day with a grateful heart and praising God for another day. For the many family and friends who were blessed to know her, she was a daily BIBLE reader, prayer warrior, savvy domino player, southern cook and homemaker, seek-a-word puzzler extraordinaire and advanced level Facebooker! She could be tough as nails as a disciplinarian, sweet as honey and witty without trying. She was never timid about sharing her opinions and offering advice. Once her crooked index finger began shaking in your direction, you knew you better stop what you were doing and listen. For the last several years after buying her first iPhone and discovering the endless possibilities awaiting her on social media, her faith touched a multitude of lives. She loved reading her daily Facebook news feed and adding commentary with her favorite emojis. She could upload videos and repost with the best of Facebookers. Prayer requests for others in need and for our world was always a priority in her content.

She and her family called 13202 Columbine Lane in Beaumont Place, Texas home for 57 years. She was employed for 37 years at Romar Meat Market located on Beaumont Highway which was ½ mile from her house. Her house was always open to family and friends without invitation and those who stopped by for a visit were glad they did. Her sweet iced tea, homemade biscuits and tomato gravy became a unanimous request from the family. She loved playing dominos, working seek-a-word puzzles, talking on the phone, reading her bible, watching Wheel of Fortune and the Price Is Right. She was a special lady with a heart of gold, abiding faith, iron-clad will and truly a woman after God’s own heart. The Heavens are brighter by one more star.

She will be laid to rest by her husband in San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. Due to new funeral protocols during our current Pandemic, a “Celebration of Life” service will take place at a future date.

Graveside service will be on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11:30am at San Jacinto Memorial Cemetery.

Jeanette was obviously a very special lady! I never had the opportunity to meet her during our high school years but her sons represented her well. It is apparent that she had a loving touch when it came to parenting because I don’t think I have met more polite, sweet, gentlemanly boys than Doyle and Elton. As a man, Doyle continued to always talk about his mama and I saw their exchanges of love between them on Facebook including Debbie. She seems to be a force of love and as you process your feelings during this sad times, I hope the memories of her hold you close. May she Rest In Peace knowing she left behind loved ones who will keep her memory alive. Condolences to all.

My mother-in-law, Jeanette Stroud, was a woman who served her Lord first and husband and family a close second. I did not know her as Doyle and Elton’s mom in high school, but I was blessed later in life to know her as the mother of the guy I was supposed to be with my whole life.

The mom I knew had weathered many storms, sheltered numerous children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and turned the other cheek with unconditional love through the eyes of Christ as life presented challenges, setbacks and disappointment.

Her amazing faith and love of God gave her hope when others were hopeless, inspired her with words of wisdom when advise was needed and empowered her to witness to multitudes at every opportunity of the eternal gift of life beyond our Earthly life through Jesus Christ.

My mother-in-law blessed my life beyond measure by her unyielding walk with her Heavenly Father and her strong bond with her family.

Mom loved me as I loved her. We had an easy, comfortable relationship and I was always honored when I could be there for her in times of need. We never missed an opportunity to say, I love you, and enjoyed our extended visits.

She and I enjoyed sharing family histories and talking about times past. I have been blessed to have known four Proverb 31 women in my life that I looked up to: Both of my grandmothers, Ruby Dylla (My best friend, Rose’s mom from high school) and Beulah Jeanette Stroud, my mother-in-law.

All three of her grown children called her daily and that alone speaks clvolumesvfor the mom she was. She is leaving a huge void for those of us still here, but, her life lives on in each one of us who were so blessed to know her.

If there is any way for mom to make Facebook posts from Heaven, she will! I will be expecting it.

Tell Dad and Janeen we love them and pray we will be joining all of you when it’s our time.

With Much Love and Deepest Respect,

Sis Stroud was a very special lady in my life. You knew that your name was called in prayer when you asked her to pray with you about something. She is one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. My prayers are with Elton, Jawonna, Doyle, and all of the others.
