Dolores Rose Thornton, 97, of Crosby, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018. She was born January 9, 1921 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Theodore and Ida (Mikesell) Finkbeiner. She enjoyed fishing, crafts, ceramics, clock making, and rock tumbling, and she was a fan of sports. She loved the beach, collecting seashells, and living in Florida. She also was an avid collector of cookbooks of which she had a massive collection.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Alice Herrington and husband, Milton of Kountze; Mary Pittman of San Antonio; step-son, OW Johnson, Jr.; grandchildren, Kathy Johnson, Glen Beauchamp, Wendi Shiff, Mike Herrington, and Greg Herrington, and; great-grandchildren, Carissa, Chloe and Brody Beauchamp; Collin Shiff; Kara Wells; and also a great-great granddaughter Kaleigh Wells. Her parents, Theodore and Ida Finkbeiner; brothers, T. Finkbeiner and Charles Finkbeiner; husbands, OW Johnson Sr., Alva Cantrell, Steve Thornton; and a grandson, Adam Wayne Herrington, precede her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A visitation will begin at 11:30am on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Grand View Funeral Home at 8501 Spencer Highway in Pasadena with a memorial service beginning at 12:30pm.
