Eva Leona Haverkorn was born on February 10, 1929 in Franklin, TX. Leona was the youngest of 7 children born to Alvah Ernest Haverkorn and Eva Ola Brewer Haverkorn. She passed away on September 10, 2020 in Houston, TX at the age of 91.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Alvah Arthur, Thomas Richard, Edward Fredrick and John Henry, and her sisters Edna Florence and Mary Ellen.
She is survived by her nephews, Dwight Haverkorn and wife Betsy and Michael Kenneth Haverkorn and wife Ida Garcia-Smith, Niece Carol Ann Crisp, Niece in Law, Marion Haverkorn, a number of great-nieces and great-nephews and her dear friend Noma Jordan.
Leona proudly received her masters in education from the University of Houston in 1956. As a second grade teacher in the Galena Park School District for 38 years she received numerous awards. Leona was a faithful member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church for more than 50 years where she served in various areas including membership in the choir and as Sunday School Director. She will be remembered for her love of cats and her sense of humor.
