

In 1973 she met Gilberto Montoya in Pasadena, where they worked alongside one another at Monterey House restaurant and fell in love. She and Gilberto decided to plant their roots in Pasadena, where they began a family, raising three children, and were happily married for 46 years. Guadalupe was known for her soft, welcoming personality, which she displayed for many years while working at Brown Sugar’s Bar-B-Que. She eventually moved on to work at Texas Children’s Women’s Pavilion where her warm smile and serving hospitality shined.
Guadalupe’s greatest passion was loving and spending time with her grandchildren along with always welcoming family into her home. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, gardening, watching lifetime movies, and novelas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lazaro and Natalia Melchor and her sister, Maria De La Luz Garcia.
She is survived by her husband Gilberto Montoya, her daughter Rubi Montoya, her son Mauro Montoya and wife Veronica Montoya, her daughter Amparo Montoya and fiancé Eddie Torres II. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ariana Isela Garcia, Shaila Isabella Garcia, Ava Penelope Montoya, Camila Giselle Triana, and Mateo Torres. She is also survived by her 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.
A visitation for Guadalupe will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 Pasadena, Pasadena, TX 77502. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Pasadena Funeral Chapel.
