James "Jimmy" Moy Cliburn Jr.

James M Cliburn Jr., 66, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on May 8th, 2024. Born on October 9th, 1957, in Fairmont, West Virginia, he was the son of James Cliburn Sr. & Rose Jacquez Cliburn. James was married to Jill Christensen Cliburn for a loving 30 years.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, and embarked on a career in the Chemical & Epoxy industry in Torrance, California. Relocating to Gilbert, Arizona, he continued his educational journey by pursuing his Master’s degree at the University of Phoenix while thriving in the new home construction business.

During his time in Arizona, Jim and Jill were blessed with two children, Elizabeth Marie Cliburn, 28, and Maxwell James Cliburn, 24. In 2010, the family made the move to Houston, Texas, to be closer to Jim’s parents and siblings.

Jim had an insatiable passion for sports - watching, discussing, and playing. He immersed himself in his fantasy baseball league for decades and cherished attending professional sports games, particularly as an Arizona Diamondbacks inaugural season ticket holder in 1998 and 1999. Golfing was another favorite pastime he shared with family and friends. A natural athlete, James excelled in various sports like golf, tennis, basketball, and baseball. He dedicated his time to coaching his son’s basketball league and supporting his children at their sporting events.

Deeply devoted to his faith, Jim had a very strong relationship with God. He was actively engaged in his church community and cultivated lasting friendships with fellow members.

Family RV camping trips to Silverstrand Beach in Coronado, California, created cherished memories for Jim and his loved ones.

Jim’s vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and ability to connect with anyone will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. His outgoing nature and genuine warmth touched many lives, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be forever treasured and live on through his wife and children.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James and Rose Cliburn, as well as many beloved relatives and friends, Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Jill, his daughter Elizabeth Marie, and his son Maxwell James. He is also survived by his siblings: Cindy Smith (Erich), Tom Cliburn, Chris Cliburn (Debra), Joe Cliburn, Rebecca Reed, John Cliburn (Lisa), and Greg Cliburn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Jim will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 3pm at Connect Community Church, 4405 Crenshaw Rd, Pasadena Texas, 77504.
