May 22, 1946 – January 3, 2025
With warm hearts we remember and celebrate the life of John Wayne Gasper Sr.
John sadly departed this earthly world on January 3rd, 2025, at the age of 78. John was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
Born on 22nd of May 1946 to John and Reva Gasper. John was loving, funny, opinionated, stubborn, caring and kind man who loved his family, friends and Jesus beyond measure. He dedicated 31 years to Genoa Elementary School located in South Houston TX where he continued to put smiles on elementary school students with his funny caring nature especially on the first days of school. Even as the years passed, we would encounter these students’ years or even decades later and they could still remember his name and who he was, bringing a smile to his face knowing he made a difference. He loved raising animals and sharing this with his family. His favorite animal of all was ducks. He had a great sense of humor, loved to tell jokes, funny stories, anything to try and put a smile on your face and listen to old country music.
John met his soul mate - the love of his life Patricia and together they created a beautiful life filled with love, wonderful memories raising four wonderful children three sons John Jr., Joey, and James and one daughter Reva Ann who all loved and respected him dearly. His six grandchildren were his pride and joy, John III, Morgan, Mason, Emma, Jake, and Dean.
John was a family man who loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. It was the little things that meant the most to him. He would never turn down a day to go fishing, join for a movie night, or come over to just hang out and eat up all the food lol, but now we see it was all about spending quality time with his family. Memories are the pictures we can take with us everywhere as he would always say! No matter what, he was the one you could always count on to help. He was always willing to drop everything to be there for all of us kids.
John’s life was a beautiful testament to love, laughter, and the importance of family. While he will be deeply missed, he will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
