

Jose M. Carranza of Pasadena, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 20th, 2026, at the age of 93. He was born on July 2nd, 1933, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Eduvijes Maria Cantu and Jose Lorenzo Carranza. Jose grew up with his two loving parents and four younger siblings where he was instilled with strong values of faith and family.
Jose graduated from Miller High School in 1951, then he joined the U.S. Navy where he attended Airman School at the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Jacksonville, Florda in February of 1952 and then The Naval Air Technical Training Center in Memphis, Tennessee in May of 1952. He worked as an Aircraft Engineer Mechanic at the U.S. Naval Receiving Station in San Francisco, California.
On June 14th, 1958, Jose married his soulmate, Dora E Lopez, and they welcomed their first daughter, Lizette, in July 1959. Shortly after Jose separated from the U.S. Navy in August 1959 so that he could devote his time to his family. Jose and Dora later had three more children. Joey, Michael and Dana.
After his separation form the U.S. Navy Jose worked for the family’s wholesale candy business, until June of 1977 when he was employed by Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He later retired in August of 1998.
Jose and Dora loved to travel visiting places like Hawaii and the Grand Canyon. They especially loved international travel to places such as Moscow, Russia, Vatican City, Switzerland and The Netherlands just to name a few.
Jose loved being a grandfather and spent a lot of his time taking them on adventures, telling them all the best jokes and stories and teaching them valuable life lessons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Eduvijes Carranza, his beloved wife, Dora Carranza, son, Jose A. Carranza, brothers, Luis Carranza and David Carranza and sister, Yolanda Valle.
He was survive by his daughter, Lizette Eznack of Pasadena, Texas, son, Michael David Carranza of Pasadena, Texas and daughter, Dana Carranza and son-in-law, Brett Edmonsond of Alvin, Texas, granddaughter Charlotte Ramirez and husband Anthony of Deer Park, Texas, grandson, Ashton Cole Carranza Edmonsond of Alvin, Texas, great granddaughter, Addison Elizabeth Husband of Deer Park, Texas and Brother Daniel Carranza of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and funeral service at Funeraria Del Angel, 901 Main, Pasadena, TX 77506 on Friday, October 2nd, 2026. Visitation with the immediate family will begin at 10:00 am and for other family and friends at 11:00 am. Funeral services in the chapel at 3:00 pm.
Committal at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209 on Monday October 5th, 2026, at 11:00 am in Shelter 1.
