Julia Henson Sanchez

Julia Henson Sanchez, 83, of La Porte, passed away March 30, 2025. She was born in Taft ,Texas on February 6, 1942 to Julian Henson and Maria Castro. For ten years Julia worked in nutrition for DPISD. She loved attending church each Sunday, at Bayshore Baptist Church. She had a passion for gardening and cooking, making tamales and bunuelos for her grandchildren during the holidays.

She also loved coloring and watching her Lifetime Movies. She loved her coffee con pan dulce. Julia loved her desserts and was well known for her delicious tortillas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dario Vela Sanchez.

She is survived by her children Dario Sanchez Jr., Mary Denise Zavala, Dorlin Sanchez Salazar, Diana Ann Sanchez Corpus, David Castro Sanchez, Michael Anthony Martinez. Julia has 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was truly loved by all, she was a very funny lady who loved to sing, dance and be silly. Julia loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. She was a fighter full of energy and fought till the very end. We love you mama !

A visitation for Julia will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 PASADENA BLVD, PASADENA, TX 77502. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at La Porte Cemetery, 1301 South 8th, La Porte, TX 77502.
