Layedell Richmond

A memorial service for Layedell will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.

On March 6, 1970, Sister Layedell Steward married Percy Richmond to whom she remained married for 43 years until her late husbands passing in 2013.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Brigitte Guidry of Houston Texas, son Michael Richmond of San Antonio Texas. Also to mourn are two sisters Melba Jordan and Cynthia Faggett, and a host of stepsisters, stepbrothers, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister (Fayedell Steward), brother (Charles Faggett) and sons (Stacy Pace) and (Percy Richmond Jr.)

As years went by, Layedell was approached by Jehovah's Witnesses in the door-to-door ministry. She accepted a bible study and as a result, was baptized June 25th 1983 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved talking about Jehovah to whom ever would listen and to do the research when it came to studying. God's Word the Bible. Because her circumstances permitted, she joined the rank of pioneering September 1st, 1985 which meant she vowed to Jehovah to do 90 hours a month in the ministry. That was her joy and that was her life. Layedell was one of the most kind and loving person to everyone she met. Never expecting anything in return. She would often say, "Jehovah knows what I want" and that was what made her happy. When the friends and family would drop off some tasty food, she didn't cook as much anymore, we will always remember her beautiful smile, her contagious laugh and the twinkle of her eyes when something was really funny to her.

Layedell was a faithful and loyal servant even when she was sickness overcame her, she was always still thinking how she could witness to someone.That was all she ever wanted to do.
