Margaret was born on November 29, 1932, in Kilgore, TX to her late parents: Albert Lapsley Yantis, Sr. and Janice Slaughter Yantis. Margaret graduated from Galena Park High School in 1951 and went on to earn her R.N. from St. Joseph School of Nursing - Class of 1953. She married her best friend and beloved husband John Charles Tyner in October 1954. Margaret spent over 25 years working as a hospital nurse before she transitioned into the role of an elementary school nurse. One of her greatest contributions to her community was the time she spent at Cloverleaf Elementary in Houston, TX, first as a nurse and second as an unofficial social worker. She dedicated her time and effort to helping the students and their families whether it was health related or assistance with food, clothing, etc. She retired in 1994 from school nursing to spend more time with her husband, John, fishing Lake Somerville and traveling. After retirement she still found time to substitute for other nurses in Galena Park ISD and help people in her new community of Lyons, TX. She was also an animal lover and you could often find her caring for or fostering an animal. After her husband’s death she returned to the Houston area where she made time to volunteer with the Baytown Animal Shelter. Her heart was so big when it came to helping people and animals alike. These acts of service are what fulfilled her. She was a force to be reckoned with who left her mark on the world with her larger than life personality. It is safe to say she never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. She enjoyed her family and spending time with them visiting and reminiscing over good memories and stories of her life.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her daughter Ann Tyner, son John Tyner and his wife Glenda, and her daughter-in-law Becky Tyner; grandchildren: Jillian (Wade) Moore, Brittni (Jacob) Bures , Maegan (Brent) Pitts, Hillary (Patrick) Roth, Mat Tyner, and Jared (Sydney) Roth; great-grand children: Zoe, Levi, Jaxon, Zeke, Zane, Adelaide, Charles, Tilly, Cotton, Brackston, Brooks, Braegan, Ryley, Aaden, Tyner, and Magnolia; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 49 years, John C. Tyner, her son, David Charles Tyner, her siblings Mary Yantis and Albert Yantis, Jr, and sister of her heart Edna Arnold.
