Maria Irma Gonzalez

On Monday, November 2, 2020, Maria Irma Gonzalez, our loving mother, passed away at home surrounded by family. She was born on January 22, 1942 to Maria Luisa and Marcos Cruz in Monterrey, Mexico. She met her husband, Cecilio at amutual friend’s wedding in Monterrey, later marrying him on June 7, 1970. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Houston, Texas where they began their new life together and raised their four children.

Irma, as she was better known, was an excellent wife, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother. She devoted her entire life to being the best Mom and Weli to her children and grandchildren. Besides a brief stint in her younger days working at a brewery alongside her father Marcos, she never worked outside of the home. Home was her best work. She will be fondly remembered for her delicious meals and willingness to feed anyone and everyone, and her beautiful voice that she used to serenade us all with.

Irma will be incredibly missed by her 4 children, Norma and husband Brad, Mario and wife Eva, Esmeralda and husband Michael, and Cecilia and husband Chris; grandchildren Jake, Paige, Michael, Sarah, Cassie, Marcos, Mia, and Tristan. She leaves behind six sisters and one brother, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Her husband of almost 48 years Cecilio Gonzalez, parents Maria Luisa and Marcos Cruz, and

sister Maria Luisa Cruz Cabrera precede her in death.
