Mary Ann Hassell Nicholson, the daughter of Charles Oren Hassell and Mary Magdaline Durham was born on September 21, 1940 in Odessa, Texas and was a tow headed little girl whose father moved them around a lot. He was a baker and her mother was a cosmetologist. She did not make a lot of friends in school due to always moving around but once she grew up and married, she made a lot of friends through church, work and the American Legion auxiliary 521. She was very dedicated to friends, family and veterans and veteran families. She loved working for the ALA 521 cancer research Program. She was very outgoing as an adult. She self educated herself through typing and shorthand and soon got a job at Pasadena new citizen. She really love that job. She then went to Sealand Shipping she had a story about how they shipped a container of wine. There was a storm coming in through Canada and they stopped the container in Minot North Dakota. She said guess what it didn’t freeze in Canada but it did and Minot North Dakota the whole container of wine was frozen. Ann worked there until 1977 when she had an accident that put her on permanent disability. The disability people retrained her and she went to work for Continental Airlines where she got to travel for free, boy did she travel. She suffered some heartbroken times that you would’ve never known about. Her mother was her first heartbreak her husband was her second her third was her grandson Andrew Nicholson, but when she lost her youngest child, Louis A Nicholson on July 27, 2025 she was devastated .
Ann was the most positive, kind, giving, loving person you would ever have had the pleasure of knowing. Because she was so positive you would’ve never known her sadness, but her faith in God through his son Jesus Christ she knew, she knew.
