Maurice F. "Buddy" Gillioz, 84, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away November 1, 2015. He was born in Houston, Texas on June 29, 1931. Buddy graduated from Santa Fe High School and received a Bachelor's and a Master's in Education from University of Houston. Buddy was a 2nd Team All-America Selection in 1952 and a 2 time All Missouri Valley Conference tackle (1952-1953). Buddy was the 22nd pick in the 1954 NFL by the Los Angeles Rams. Buddy served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Lee in Petersburg, Virginia. He was married to Betty Jean Gillioz on March 14, 1953. Buddy worked as a coach and administrator for the Pasadena Independent School District for 36 years at South Houston Intermediate, South Houston High School and Sam Rayburn High School. He was a member of the South Pasadena Rotary, where he was Rotarian of the year and a Paul Harris Fellow. He had a passion for Houston Cougar football, Astros baseball, dominoes, traveling and dancing. He is survived by his son, Stephen F. Gillioz (Teresa) from Friendswood, Texas; daughter, Paula Clark (Robert) from Brandon, Mississippi; grandchildren, Derek Gillioz (Kristin), Dustin Gillioz (Whitney), Lauren Vance (Grant), and Jared Clark (Amanda); great grandchildren, Natalie Gillioz, Brooke Gillioz, Blake Gillioz, Grayson Vance and Pierson Vance; and sister, JoAnn Giamalva.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Pasadena Funeral Home 2203 Pasadena Boulevard, Pasadena, Texas 77502. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 11:00am at Asbury United Methodist Church, 5354 Space Center Boulevard, Pasadena, Texas
