Nolan is survived by his younger brother C.W. Simons; three children Greg Simons, Nancy McElroy, Chris Simons; 8 grandchildren Jamy Smith, Jill Bond, Johan McElroy, Jr., Stacy McElroy, Shawn McElroy, Crystal Jones, Stephanie and Regina; and great grandchildren Hunter Smith, Parker Smith and numerous others.
Nolan worked for Phillips Chemical Company for 40+ years. He began working for Phillips as a Finishing Operator in Borger, Texas in 1946. He and his family moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1954 and he continued his work career at the Phillips Adams Terminal location. Nolan quickly moved up the ladder to Shift Supervisor until his retirement, August 1, 1985.
Nolan was very involved with his church family at San Jacinto Baptist in Deer Park, Texas. He talked often about his love of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He read his bible daily. It was one of his greatest pleasures. He was an avid gardener and was known to grow the best tomatoes in town. He loved sharing them with everyone. Sometimes you would walk out on your front porch and find a big bag of homegrown tomatoes just waiting for the salt shaker. It was always a mouthwatering surprise.
Nolan Simons will be missed by all of us for so many reasons, but mostly for his kind heart and soft words.
