

Omar Emil Tristan was born on August 13, 1981 in Houston Texas to Eugene and Margaret S. Tristan. He passed away on November 28, 2023 at the age of 42. Omar is preceded in death by his mother Margaret S. Tristan. He is survived by his father Eugene Tristan and wife Linda Rincon, sister Melisa Muniz and husband Frankie, brother John Tristan and wife Isabel. He was adored by his nieces and nephews, Natalie, Noah, Matthew, and Olivia.
Omar graduated from South Houston High School c/o 2000. Later that year he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from boot camp at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside California in February 2001. While stationed at Camp Pendleton he participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom doing two tours of duty in Iraq. Omar completed his active-duty service rising to the rank of Lance Corporal. He was awarded the Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (w/1star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (Iraq), National Defense Service Medal and Presidential Unit Citation-Navy (Iraq).
Omar joined the Houston Police Department on January 23, 2006, Class #186, and graduated on July 21, 2006. Senior Police Officer Omar Tristan was assigned to patrol at the Southwest Division. There he received 15 supervisory commendations and a Master Peace Officer certification. During his tenure he was also assigned to the Jail Division. Omar was a dedicated public servant. He served his country and his community well.
Omar was an incredibly compassionate individual who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. His love for his family was unwavering, and his presence had a soothing effect on those around him. Family gatherings and holiday celebrations were cherished moments for Omar, as they allowed him to bask in the warmth of togetherness. With a natural knack for giving and a heart that knew no bounds, Omar found true happiness in witnessing the smiles and boundless joy he brought to others.
A visitation for Omar will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 901 Main, Pasadena, TX 77506. A rosary will occur Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Funeraria del Angel, 901 Main St, Pasadena, Texas 77506. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook St, Houston, TX 77034.
