Rita and I became friends after I worked downtown Houston at Simpson Thacher for a very short time. We’ve been friends ever since. She used to call me her “Tall” friend. She was definitely special because she did not mind helping people. Sometimes, that’s all she did. She was so loving, warm and kind, always offering words of advice. I could never get past how she typed 99 WPM :). We met for lunch a couple of times a year and I always enjoyed just listening to her. She helped me understand that being a person with so much love and compassion should be our regular mission. And we both discussed how we loved our animals (past and present), too. I’ll miss you my “short” friend. Love ya! ♥️♥️ Rest in Paradise, my Dear.

Rita worked with me as a legal secretary for several years.  She brought joy and life to her workplace, and I greatly appreciated her help.  

Hoping the memory of her wonderful soul provides comfort for Rita's family and friends during this time.

I met Miss Rita when I came to work at STB. She was always the first smiling face I saw coming into the office, even if I had to make the long loop to pass her. Rita's bright and loving personality was always on full display and our conversations always ended with laughter.

I loved catching up with Miss Rita, whether we were talking about her riding motorcycles with boys growing up, gushing over our fur-babies, or swapping book recommendations. Her love for her family and sisters, friends and, of course, her devotion to God was so bright you couldn't help but be pulled in.

I pray she is resting easy now and though I will miss her terribly, I will continue to cherish our friendship and remember her fondly.

It is with great sadness that I write this. I never personally met Rita, however her devotion, love and sacrifices reveal a person of exemplary character.  I was often told of her devotion to God…..she walked the talk,  she was motivated by love which is a rarity these days.  My friend, and sister in Christ of 37 years Denise Renfro Warren spoke often thru the years of Rita and all she had given of herself.  Not just to Denise but to all in need that she could help.  Mother Theresa often spoke of  “doing small things with great love” that is how I will remember Rita……..she did all things with great love.  Denise and Rita were closer than most knew, truly sisters with a deep love for each other.  Please 🙏 pray for Denise, and may Rita find eternal peace and love. ❤️

Rita was my bus buddy. We rode the bus downtown Monday thru Friday for several years. She was so kind and funny.  She sat in the front and greeted each person with a smile. Say hello to Jesus for me, dear Rita! I'll be saying prayers for those of us that will deeply miss you.

Miss Rita I'm being blessed with being able to continue your care of January.  January was just another example of your never ending love. You took him in as a stray and nursed him back to health.  Rest peacefully knowing that he is being taken care of. January loved you and will miss you.

Miss Rita, there are no words on how you changed my life my knowing you. We began our friendship riding the Townsend Park and Ride. I sat beside you one morning and the rest is history.  We laughed, shared our frustration with our jobs and talked about family.  You frequently brought me and other bus mates breakfast. I cared for you and you cared for me. I'm grateful that we we're able to have lunch in January not knowing it would be our last.  You cared for strangers downtown and often gave them food or money if they needed it without expecting anything back. I love you my bus mate and will miss you. Until I ride the big bus to heaven.   Safe me a seat next to you.

To the Family of Rita Renfro.  So sorry for your loss. Rita was a kind, caring, and loving friend.  She was warm and cheerful and made the commute to work a joyful experience.  We rode the park n ride together each day. I remember when I boarded the bus for the first time, there was Rita, with a smile and a cheerful good morning! We became fast friends and shared many days of laughter, tales of work, and prayer. Rita was a woman of faith and a sister in the Lord. She will be missed. May God's grace and peace sustain you for the days ahead.  If I may be of service, please let me know.

Ms . Rita has Spoken into my life for almost 15 years . When I was a teenager she saw potential in me and that I longed to have a family of my own . She would tell me about how wonderful the woman that God was preparing for me would be . 

She was so right! I’m in my thirties now , married to a woman I do not deserve  and working on my fifth child with her .

Miss you Ms. Rita and I’m proud of the race you’ve run . Well done !

reaffirming to have you in my life. For providing the encouragement and support of the sister friends that we 
remain to be through it all. So many moments were brighter
because of you, and so many days where more sunshine than
clouds. One of the things i love most of my life was you being my 
friend and i love you as mine also. I'm only sorry we didn't get 
to fulfill your dreams of retiring and raking your yard. 
All i ever wanted was you to fill the love of living with a family.
Planting the trees you wanted and the legacy you were gonna 
leave behind you. Till we meet again i will treasure the memories.
