OBITUARY

Ruth Ardoin

February 6, 1938November 1, 2020

Ruth Ardoin of Pearland, Texas passed away at her home on November 1, 2020.

Born on February 6, 1938 in Tyler, Texas; Ruth was the daughter of Alvin and Viola (Harty) Mc Michael. She will be dearly missed and remembered by her daughters, Christine Hymel, Patty Babel, Connee Bruce, Sylvia Denise Ardoin, Connie Perry, Charli Ardoin, and eleven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Ruth in death are her husband, Sylvan Ardoin: her parents and a brother, Dinny Hawkins.

Memories from her daughters: She was always there through every milestone. She was our biggest fan and cheerleader. She was my lucky charm. She encompassed empathy for others and would give her last dime to help you. But also enough orneriness to throw you off your game. She was truly one in a million. And I will miss her more than anyone will ever be able to comprehend. But I know she’s with my daddy now, where she always longed to be. I love you, moma.

Not just a Mom, she was a big sister. Someone to confide in, to cry with no judgement. A heart of unconditional love. No matter the hour, no matter the problem, she had a gift. The ability to make me feel whole again. Such a creative soul, from floral design, cooking, home decor, she loved it. Mom loved good music, from The Blues, old/new country, pop, Cajun... a little bit of everything. She loved family times, us all in the kitchen cooking, dancing and laughing, after dinner, we’d all pile up in the living room in front of mom’s big screen and surround sound and watch movies. Disney movies were her favorite especially the ones about animals. I loved and will miss our shopping sprees at Thrift and Consignment shops... and our special talks of life and old times. Mom was definitely the matriarch of our family.

My Precious Mother

As a child you held my hand to keep me safe

Now the time has come for me to hold yours, to keep you safe

The day may come, where you may find it difficult to remember simple things

I promise I will be patient and understanding, for you are my Precious Mother, who gave me life and I promise I will be here holding your hand when God brings you home

For you are my lifelong friend…my Precious Mother

Who I love today, tomorrow, forever and always

Mom and Sil on Mother’s Day, we surprised mom with a new porch swing. She loved being on her porch in the morning listening to the birds and drinking coffee.
We’d talk on the phone Sunday Mornings both on our porches and over coffee.
