

San Juana Baez Escoto, 59, passed away on April 6, 2017 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. She was born on July 17, 1957 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas (Mexico) to Celso and Celia Baez. San Juana was one of twelve siblings, growing up in Pasadena, TX with her six brothers and four sisters.
San Juana met the love of her life Jose Escoto in 1978 in Pasadena, TX at Guardian Angel Catholic Church. It was love at first sight and San Juana married Jose in 1979 and they were happily married for over 37 years.
San Juana loved traveling with Jose across North America, especially to various beach resorts where they could make new memories and spend quality time together. San Juana enjoyed walking on the beach and riding bicycles on the frequently visited Galveston Island.
San Juana always put her family and Catholic faith above everything else, even during the most trying times of her life. Their happiness, their comfort, their success, that was more important than anything and nothing else mattered. She will be remembered as one of the most amazing and strongest creatures that the Lord created and brought into this world. Her legacy of goodness and love will continue in our hearts and follow us all the days of our lives.
San Juana was preceded in death by her little brother Esteban and father Celso Baez. San Juana is survived by her spouse Jose; her daughter Maria and sons Miguel and Jose (Jr.) Escoto; mother Celia Baez; brothers/sisters Jose Angel, Inez, Teresa, Betty, Antonio, Chela, Nuno, Martin, Max, and Laura; and her grandchildren Joanna, Matthew, Christopher, Miguel Jr., and Aidan; along with several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
A Catholic Mass will be held in her honor Saturday April 8, 2017 at 1PM at St. Juan Diego Church in Pasadena, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Juan Diego Church. San Juana will be laid to rest at Grand View Funeral Home in the presence of her family and friends at Grandview Funeral Home. Graveside service (inurnment) is scheduled for Saturday April 15, at 1PM.
