

Shirley Lee Clingan Rankin entered into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on February 9, 2012, now reunited with her husband of 61+ years, Edwin Everette Rankin and their son "Eddie". She was also preceded in death by her parents, G.A. Clingan and Beulah Lee Woods Clingan, and her twin siblings, Gerald Dean Clingan and Barbara Jean Crittenden, and brother in law, Truman Rankin.
She is survived by her children, Leroy D. Rankin and wife Miraluna, James E. Rankin and wife Deborah, and Cynthia Elaine Rankin; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, with another one on the way.
She obtained her master's degree in Industrial Design, and was one of a few women who worked on the Gemini and Apollo projects, and the South Texas Nuclear Project.
After years in industry, she answered God's call and implemented an AutoCAD vocational program at Milby High School where her encouragement and persistence helped transform the lives of hundreds of students and their families, which she believed was her greatest accomplishment.
Shirley was a tireless advocate for safety regulations, universal medical care, equal rights, and active participation in the electoral process. Her dedication to her faith, family, friends, community, and her dogs was unrivalled and an inspiration to those who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 6-9pm at Funeraria Del Angel Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, February 15,2012 at 12:00 noon at St Peter's Episcopal Church, 705 William St, Pasadena TX. Interment following at Grand View Memorial Park.
